Newsletters

The Cincinnati Youth Collaborative sends out two newsletters each month to 5,700 subscribers: eBlast, which covers news and events across the organization, and Mentor Minute, which covers news and features of interest to those participating in the mentoring program.

The newsletters are designed in and sent through Constant Contact. While there is some wiggle room to tweak the design and layout using HTML, there are limitations, i.e., no hidden/embedded text using the <!–more–> code. In order to keep the email short and scrollable, I include the opening paragraph with a read more link, which goes to a PDF containing the entire story.

Fliers

I had to recreate the calendar of events, which is distributed to CYC board members, because the original one was created in Microsoft Publisher.

I used a combination of Adobe Illustrator and InDesign for the calendar. Illustrator was used for the background containing the CYC logo, calendar of events, and their motto. I opted to use Illustrator primarily because I liked the look of the rounded rectangle better than InDesign’s rounded rectangle. I then imported the file into InDesign and lay out the text using four columns.
