2016 Outstanding Student Awards

Photos were taken using a Sony Cyber-Shot G

The Cincinnati Youth Collaborative honored students who have conquered adversity with hope and optimism at the Outstanding Student Awards on June 21 and 23.

The sixteen students nominated for the award are attending college this fall, and are eligible to win one of three $1,000 scholarships.

Many of the nominees are first generation college students who have overcome obstacles such as homelessness; moving to the United States as a refugee while learning English as a second language; and the death of a parent while maintaining high GPAs and graduating in the top of their class.

CYC Reds Day 2016

Photos were taken using an iPhone 5c with no lens attachments.

Over 130 CYC staffers, mentors, and mentees descended upon Great American Ball Park for CYC’s Reds Day on Sunday, June 5.

The day was a celebration of our mentors’ dedication to our mentees, and our mentees’ drive to succeed in school.

Even though the Reds lost against the Nationals, the group enjoyed lots of food, laughter, and conversation — plus a tour of the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum.

CYC Reds Day 2016: Bobblehead exhibit

Photos were taken using a Nikon COOLPIX P330.

Stephanie the Intern talked with Zyair, one of CYC’s mentees, and asked her what her favorite part of Reds Day was. She said it was the bobblehead exhibit. Stephanie bailed out of the game early to go check it out. If you haven’t seen it yet, GO! It’s incredible!
